Health-Care-Plan Study Lacks Up-to-Date Data

Kraiser Family Foundation, a non-profit organization specializing in health-care policy studies, recently found it hard to provide policy analysis to help enrollees shop between traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage, due to the relatively out-of-date data. According to Kaiser, based on limited resource of data:

  • Medicare Advantage tends to be better in preventive service than traditional Medicare;
  • Traditional Medicare tends to be better in the quality of care and access to care than Medicare Advantage;
  • Traditional Medicare gets better reviews among sick beneficiaries than Medicare Advantage.

The study was not thorough because of the shortage of latest data. However, enrollees will be able to get information from Medicare website and its online handbook called “Medicare & You”, and from Medicare hotline (800-622-4227)
