College Abacus: A Web Tool that Compares College Costs

Co-founded by two Rhodes scholars, Abigail Seldin and Whitney Haring-Smith, College Abacus is a web tool that provides people applying to college with an easier way of comparing college costs. After entering financial and personal data, users can receive estimates of the price they may actually pay after scholarships and other grants are offered, and compare figures from up to three colleges at a time.

While College Abacus utilises the net price calculators found on the websites of individual colleges and does not do any of its own calculations, many institutions have blocked the tool from pinging their websites on the basis of data inaccuracy. Contrastingly, there are others that approve of College Abacus as a useful tool for interested students.
