Linda Kotis is Of Counsel with Ivins, Phillips & Barker’s Estate Planning Group and has been with the firm since May 2015. She works on complex estate planning matters, creation and modification of trusts, formation of business entities, charitable gift planning, real property transfers, and analysis of estate, income, generation-skipping transfer, and gift taxation matters for high net worth individuals and families. Ms. Kotis also assists private foundations in developing grant programs and grant agreements.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Kotis practiced law for seven years in the D.C. office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP. During her tenure in the Estates, Trusts, and Tax Planning Group, Ms. Kotis gained significant experience with the administration of high net worth estates, formation of private foundations, marital agreements, complex guardianships, post-mortem planning, probate matters, and court pleadings regarding fiduciary administration issues. She created and administered grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), including GRATs funded with Series LLC interests. Ms. Kotis also addressed beneficiary and fiduciary matters in numerous Uniform Trust Code (UTC) and non-UTC jurisdictions. She co-authored client alerts on estate planning and tax topics and spoke at the American Bar Association, DC Bar, and Pillsbury breakfast briefings on fiduciary administration issues. Prior to joining Pillsbury, Ms. Kotis held senior policy, operations and consulting positions with for-profit and non-profit health care organizations in California and Washington, D.C. In those positions, she analyzed legislative and policy issues and developed grant proposals and administered grants for non-profit organizations.
