Steve Akers has made available his summary of the ACTEC Summer Meeting. The summary from Mr. Akers is as follows:
The 2018 ACTEC Summer Meeting was held in Chicago, Illinois, on June 20-23, 2018. A summary of observations from the seminars at the meeting is available on the link below.
The meeting included one day of seminars dealing with the “life cycle of a business entity.”
In addition, the program included three panels discussing various issues about the practical challenges of planning for the interests of minors, including:

• Identifying family members in light of technological and cultural changes in how the parent-child relationship is created;

• Intestacy rights, management of property and guardianship issues for minors; and
• Litigation issues involving minors, including virtual representation, guardians ad litem, trust protectors, DNA testing, representing young adults, emancipation of minors, and dealing with parents who live off their minor children.
