AICPA describes the common statistic that “one in five women say they’re the only woman in the room at work.” Additionally, industries like finance, accounting, and technology, have been proven to experience difficulties attracting and retaining female talent. However, according to AICPA, “companies that have a higher percentage of female leadership have been proven to excel.” For example, a Credit Suisse report concluded that “companies that have women making up at least 15% of senior management are 50% more profitable than those where less than 10% of senior managers are female.” AICPA therefore outlines four strategies to assist businesses in attracting and retaining female employees.
